PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Delaware County man has admitted to stalking and sending threatening letters to a local TV news personality.
Stephen Cilurso, of Aldan, admitted to stalking and witness tampering as part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors.
Court documents show the 73-year-old mailed several notes to the TV station, where the broadcaster works. The letters had the names of the personality’s husband and kids and contained a slew of homophobic slurs.
He wrote threats like, “Watch your back,” and, “I hope what happened to Charlie Kirk happens to you,” according to court documents. Prosecutors say Cilurso also wrote that he was breeding snakes to release on the man’s property.
The plea memo says Cilurso admitted to targeting the man because of his sexual orientation.
The broadcaster’s name was redacted in court documents.
Cilurso has been in trouble for similar offenses in the past. He was sentenced to probation for harassing Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, and he was charged this year with stalking and harassing New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill.
Cilurso could face up to eight years in prison for the threatening letters sent to the broadcaster.
