PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Republican state senator is calling on Senate leadership to reconvene by Wednesday and finish legislation that would allow restaurants to sell “cocktails-to-go.”
Senator Scott Martin, R-Lancaster County, is urging Senate leaders to bring up the bill before June 30.
That date is significant, because that’s when rules allowing legislative remote voting by Zoom will expire.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a bill back in May that would have made take-out alcoholic drinks permanent.
But the Senate tacked on an amendment that would expand who could sell certain pre-mixed, canned hard-liquor drinks. That amended bill tanked in voting.
The House passed the bill again last week without the amendment. The Senate needs to agree to the non-amended version before the bill becomes law.
Currently, the Pennsylvania House and Senate are not scheduled to be back until the end of September.
