PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Long COVID-19 occurs in at least one out of 10 cases of severe COVID-19 infections. According to a major news report, more than 200 symptoms have been identified and can occur throughout the body.

It is now estimated that 65 million people in the world have long COVID, and the numbers continue to grow. Almost 70% of cases of long COVID occur in those who were hospitalized.

As for vaccination against COVID, it dramatically helps. If a person is vaccinated against COVID, they are far less likely to be hospitalized. However, it is not perfect.

Some particularly concerning associations with long COVID include the development of diabetes, chronic fatigue, heart disease and blood clots. There is still a great deal to learn about why long COVID occurs in certain people and not others.
