PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Detectives have arrested and New Jersey State Police have charged a 21-year-old man with killing another man last week in Cumberland County.
Jonathan Morris, 23, shown above, was reported missing Friday, and detectives quickly determined his disappearance was suspicious.
Miguel Perez was identified as the suspect. Law enforcement arrested Perez at his home on Monday without incident.
State police said they later found Morris' body covered in snow about 15 feet away from the road in Hopewell Township, Cumberland County.
Authorities said Perez shot Morris inside a vehicle while they were in Bridgeton. He then allegedly drove Morris' body to Archie Platt Road, where he is accused of dumping the body and ditching the car.
Authorities also say Perez attempted to dispose of evidence at a home on Cottage Avenue in Bridgeton.
State police said that Perez faces charges of murder, weapons offenses, desecration of human remains, evidence tampering, hindering, obstruction, escape, and receiving stolen property.
