PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is in custody after authorities said he shot at a group of people, injuring one man in University City, Saturday night.
Police said it was just after 10 p.m. when officers responded to the call of a “person with a gun” along 40th and Chestnut Streets and found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower back.
The victim was taken to the hospital and placed in stable condition.
The man told police that he and two others were walking when a man who was talking to himself approached them and suddenly opened fire, striking the victim, and then fled the scene on foot.
University of Pennsylvania police later found and arrested the 43-year-old gunman.
It's unknown why he shot at the group. This is an ongoing investigation.
