NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Gloucester Township have identified a juvenile who they say swung at an officer several times during a community festival over the weekend.

Officers said they asked the person to leave multiple times. They were trying to disperse an unruly crowd of hundreds of kids Saturday in a shopping center across the street from Veterans Memorial Park, where the annual Gloucester Township Day festival was being held.

The teen refused and, when officers confronted him, he punched at one multiple times before being pepper-sprayed. Police said he was able to elude officers and ran into the crowd.

Officials said on Thursday that the suspect was identified. He is a juvenile, so his name is being withheld from the public.

A dozen people were arrested over the weekend 11 of them are 18 years old or younger.

Police plan to release information about more suspects in the coming weeks.
