PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police and U.S. Marshals on Wednesday arrested a man who was wanted on warrants for two carjackings and an attempted murder. He is separately under investigation as a suspect in a number of other criminal incidents, as well.
After investigators confirmed the location of 19-year-old Brian Amerman, authorities say the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force picked him up on the 2000 block of East Rush Street in Kensington.
A spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office said Amerman is charged with several offenses, including robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault and firearms violations for carjackings on May 12 and May 17. And he is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, firearms violations and related offenses, for a non-fatal shooting on May 17. All three criminal incidents happened on the 6500 block of Roosevelt Boulevard.
Investigators credit surveillance video and Instagram posts with leading them to the defendant and those charges.

An alleged co-conspirator in the May 12 carjacking, 20-year-old Mustafa Elmitwalli, was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Amerman is also under investigation for his suspected involvement in a series of shootings and robberies in Kensington and Oxford Circle between May 12 and May 21, according to the D.A.
On Sunday, May 21, a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg at Amber Street near East Somerset Street in Kensington, according to police — and exactly a week prior, on May 14, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg at the same location. As of Friday, May 26, police say Amerman is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other related offenses for his alleged role in the May 21 shooting. And he is also charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses for the incident on May 14.
The three other incidents happened at Roosevelt Boulevard and Oxford Circle near Levick Street. On May 17, according to police, an armed man hit another man with a gun, then stole his money and car — and later that night, a 53-year-old man was shot in the neck at a stand-alone ATM in what may have been a robbery attempt. On May 12, at around that same location, police say two gunmen stole a man’s cash and his car when he was depositing money at an ATM.
Because Amerman already had a bench warrant for a probation violation, he is being held in police custody before his trial. The DA's Office is requesting he be held without bail.
