The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of approximately 4.9 million Target candles after six people reported injuries.

The Threshold candles were recalled on Thursday, which the CPSC said were sold at Target from August 2019 to March 2023. The CPSC recall noted that they pose a risk of breaking or cracking during use, which can result in injury.

More than 125 consumers have reported an issue with the candles involving the jars breaking or cracking. Of those with broken candles, six reported injuries, which included cuts and severe burns.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to any Target store for a full refund or contact Target to receive a prepaid return label to return the candles by mail,” the recall notice said.

More than 35 different sizes and scents of the Threshold candles have been recalled, ranging from smaller 5.5-ounce candles to larger 20-ounce sizes.

The candles were sold at stores nationwide. For the full list of affected products, visit the CPSC’s recall posting here.
