PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — KYW Newsradio made a cameo in the first season of HBO’s “Task.” Now, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, is getting a starring role.
The show has begun filming on Woodland Avenue between Highland and Edmonds avenues.
Rob Ellis, public information officer for Upper Darby Township, posted a video on YouTube to get the word out about the road closures.
He said production is taking place there between July 9 and 11, then again on July 16.
Ellis even made a pitch to the show’s producers: “I’m ready, I’m prepared to jump in there. Not just a cameo — I want a featured role. I smell an Emmy in my future.”
The show already has its star in Mark Ruffalo. But back in April, a local casting company said it was seeking bilingual Latino talent for the production.
The second season of “Task” will see Mahershala Ali play a seasoned DEA agent in Philadelphia, whose team comes into conflict with Ruffalo’s unit.
A release date for the new season hasn’t been announced yet.
Variety reported that this season will have a crossover with “Mare of Easttown.” (Both shows are set in Delco.) “Mare of Easttown” actress Julianne Nicholson will reprise her Emmy-winning role as Lori Ross in “Task.”
