PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police have arrested one suspect they say shot and killed a Germantown teenager last summer and are searching for two accomplices.

Tayvone Bibbs, 19, is accused of being one of two people who shot 19-year-old Michael Allen in the face on July 3 along East Rittenhouse Street, just off Germantown Avenue, killing him.

Bibbs was apprehended Tuesday by the Fugitive Task Force and held in a Montgomery County correctional center on aggravated assault, conspiracy and gun charges. He was then extradited to Philadelphia to face formal charges.

Last summer, weeks after Allen’s death, investigators released surveillance footage of the killing. In it, two people dressed in dark clothing jumped out of a white Toyota Sienna minivan, with rear damage and fired several shots. They then ran back to the van, jumped in and sped away.

Detectives are looking for the driver as well as the second shooter, and are continuing to investigate.

As with every homicide, there’s a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives, or the anonymous tipline at 215-686-TIPS.
