NORRISTOWN, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — A teen from Pottstown is charged in connection with a shooting in Norristown that left three people hurt. Authorities said 18-year-old Rashaad Oliver also recorded the entire incident on his phone.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said the shooting happened around 5 p.m. on Aug. 1, as three people were sitting outside of a house on East Chestnut Street near Green Street in Norristown. They said two masked men walked up to the group and one of them slapped one of the people sitting outside before pulling a gun and trying to pistol-whip them. The pistol whip missed and police said the target then punched the assailant in the face and broke his tooth.
The masked man, later identified as Oliver, then fired the gun towards the home. Three people were injured in the gunfire, including a 17-year-old girl who was upstairs at the time, but came downstairs to see all the commotion.
Oliver was taken into custody in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The affidavit of probable cause said investigators found Oliver had recorded the entire incident on his phone, and while it said that video doesn’t show the actual shooting, it captured audio of someone saying his name before the shots were fired.
Oliver is charged with three counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and several related firearms offenses.
