HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Hightstown, Mercer County have arrested a teenager in connection with two recent sexual assaults.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said tips they received from surveillance videos released earlier in the week led them to 18-year-old Christian Arevalo.
Arevalo faces numerous charges, including first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a 34-year-old woman on Sept. 11. Authorities said that incident happened around 8 p.m. as the woman was walking in the area of Park Way and Rogers Avenue in Hightstown.
Over the course of the investigation, police connected Arevalo to the sexual assault of another woman on Aug. 12. Investigators said that incident happened on North Main Street in Hightstown around 9:40 p.m.
Arevalo was arrested on Wednesday and remains in jail pending a detention hearing.
