Teen dies after crashing stolen car while fleeing police in Montco; 3 injured

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teen is dead, and three others are injured after he crashed a stolen SUV while trying to flee state troopers early Saturday.

It was just after midnight when police tried to pull over a white Kia Soul for traffic violations on Route 422 eastbound near Lewis Road in Limerick Township.

According to our newsgathering partners at NBC10, the 18-year-old driver failed to stop, and a police chase ensued.

The teen continued eastbound on Route 422 in Upper Merion Township until he crashed into a concrete barrier. He died at the scene.

The three passengers, two 19-year-olds and a 20-year-old, were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.

Around 7 a.m., the registered owner of the Kia reported the car stolen.

An investigation is underway.
