PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police were investigating a deadly double shooting Monday evening, after one teenager was killed and another boy was injured near a school in West Philadelphia.

The double shooting happened just outside the Philadelphia Learning Academy on 43rd Street and Westminster Avenue, the second shooting at that school in less than three weeks.

"You would think the school is a safe zone, but it’s not," said El, who lives in the neighborhood by the school.

El said he can’t help but worry about his own son, after the second shooting in less than a month by or inside the school.

An 18-year-old student at the same school shot himself in the leg back on October 22 while inside the school's gym.

"School is someplace you leave everything from the streets and go," said El.

"We are the new Chicago when it all boils down."

No weapons were initially recovered.
