PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 16-year-old was shot in the face in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia Monday night. Another teen was taken into custody.
It was around 6:30 p.m. when police were called to a property on Gaul Street, just a few blocks away from Aramingo Avenue.
A 16-year-old boy had been shot in the face while he was in the backyard with his friends, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The boy was bleeding heavily but still conscious. Police rushed him to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
“Police found out the name of the shooter and they did a great job,” said Small. “Within about 20 minutes, they were able to take a suspect into custody, who was 15 years of age.”
Small said the victim knew the suspected shooter but did not elaborate on the exact relationship. It was not immediately clear to police whether the shooting was accidental or intentional.
