PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two teenagers are facing charges in connection with a late-night prank in a New Castle County neighborhood.
Police were notified of a suspicious person on the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe just before 11 p.m. on Friday.
Residents reported a person carrying what appeared to be a rifle, knocking on doors wearing a black hockey-style mask and tactical-style vest, then running away.
About a handful of people were also seen heading eastbound on Mallard Road both on foot and by bike. Officers searched the area with K9s but did not find anyone.
On Sunday, officers identified two of the suspects — ages 16 and 17 — involved in the incident and searched one of their homes. They recovered a gel bead gun, a tackle vest and a hockey mask.
Police said they were part of a prank that involved knocking on doors late at night, “causing alarm among neighbors.” No threats of violence were made during the incidents.
The two teens are facing harassment, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing charges.
Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to call 911 or the non-emergency number at 302-573-2800.
