PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Temple University student was shot and killed by another student near campus Thursday night, possibly during an argument over drugs, investigators said.

Police said the two students, identified as 20-year-old Chase Myles, of Maryland, and 23-year-old Nicholas Laderosa, of Philadelphia, got into an argument around 11 p.m. near North Carlisle and West Oxford streets. That's when Laderosa pulled out a gun and shot Myles.

"We believe it may have been narcotics-related because we found a clear green bag — what appears to be filled with marijuana — on the scene," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Investigators also found a bag near the 20-year-old's body with a gun inside it.

Laderosa stayed on the scene after the shooting. He was arrested and will be charged with murder and related offenses.

Another individual who was with the victim is cooperating with police.

Temple President John Fry said in a statement that he is "heartbroken by the senseless loss of such a young life" and his thoughts and prayers are with all who are grieving.

"A loss like this is deeply painful for the Temple community, and we recognize the impact our student's loss of life will have on their family, friends, and all who knew them," he added.

Fry said support services are available in the Tuttleman building on 17th and North Broad streets for those who need it.
