PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The third defendant in the 2022 murder of a West Philadelphia recreation center employee was sentenced Monday.
On Sept. 9, 2022, Tiffany Fletcher was shot in the torso while working at the Mill Creek Recreation Center at 47th and Brown streets. Prosecutors said she got caught in the crossfire of two groups of juveniles opening fire on one another near the playground area.
Witness testimonies placed defendant Tevin Kee around 47th and Brown streets, running from the recreation center with a handgun in his hand.
The 21-year-old entered an open or non-negotiated guilty plea for his role in the shooting death of Fletcher.
Kee was sentenced to 12.5 to 25 years in prison.
His co-defendants, Makie Jones and Malik Flegler, pled guilty in 2024 to third-degree murder. They were sentenced to 10 to 25 years and 12.5 to 25 years in prison.
"They treated the human body like it was nothing. God created that body. Her body was his temple, and she is with him now,” said Tiffany's mother, Geraldine Fletcher.
Assistant District Attorney Jeff Hojnowski said Kee apologized to the Fletcher family at the sentencing.
The recreation center has since been renamed the Tiffany Fletcher Recreation Center to honor the victim.
