NORTHERN LIBERTIES (KYW Newsradio) — The Fire, a well-known music venue in Northern Liberties shuttered on Wednesday night after more than a quarter century of showcasing local and national talents.

Among the national talent was My Chemical Romance, which gave The Fire a shoutout from the stage in the Wells Fargo Center 20 years after first playing at the venue on West Girard Avenue in 2002.

Often billed as Philly’s only women-owned music venue, it has also played host to John Legend, Maroon 5, Modern Baseball, and the Cold War Kids, among many more.

This week, owner Karen Lauria Salliant announced on Facebook that Wednesday night’s show featuring Philly’s Deek Westside was to be The Fire’s last.

“I am not able to continue after the death of my beloved son, Christian Bygott, who was our manager and our backbone,” Salliant wrote.

Bygott died in 2024 at age 41.
