PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Flower Show is quickly approaching on March 1, and to get all the petals and people in place, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) is putting out a last-minute call for volunteers.

Rachel Messina with PHS said the show is the hottest ticket in town, especially for volunteers.

“The Flower Show is definitely one of our biggest events and fundraisers of the year and volunteers come from all over just to be a part of it,” she said.

And there’s a ton of positions to fill, from customer service positions to behind-the-scenes roles. One of them, as a member of the button brigade, sells buttons to visitors that act as donations to the show.

There’s also plenty of perks for those volunteers, according to Messina.

“Invitations to be a volunteer leaders and events, participate in raffles for only volunteers,” she said. “It’s great to see everyone it’s like a summer camp in the winter.”

There’s also a 10% discount for membership to PHS.

For the best shifts, Messina recommends reaching out before Feb. 21. To start the process, email volunteer@pennhort.org.
