'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' author Eric Carle has died at 91

Renowned designer, illustrator and author Eric Carle has passed away at the age of 91, according to a statement from his family.

Carle is best known for the 1969 book 'The Vey Hungry Caterpillar,' as well as his work on 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' 'The Grouchy Ladybug,' & 'The Very Busy Spider'.

Carle passed away on May 23rd and no cause of death was given.

Philadelphians had the chance to experience his writing in person in late 2019 and early 2020, through a special exhibit at the Please Touch Museum.
