PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man has been sentenced to a maximum of 16 years in prison for the sexual assault of a University of Pennsylvania student two years ago.
On May 2, 2023, police say Ticquarn Thomas approached the student with a knife as she was taking out the trash at the Hamilton Court apartments around 2 a.m., threatened her, and attempted to sexually assault her.
He then fled on foot east down Chestnut Street.
Thomas was arrested and charged a few days later. On March 3, 2025, Thomas pleaded guilty to some of the charges, including rape, possession of an instrument in a crime, and making terroristic threats. All of the other dozen charges were dropped.
He was sentenced Friday, May 2, 2025, to eight to 16 years in prison.
Thomas will follow prison time with probation and must register as a sex offender.
