PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Good news, theater fans: TKTS is coming to Philadelphia.

This is the second outpost for the last-minute discount ticket seller outside of its iconic location in New York City’s Times Square.

The booth opens Thursday at the Independence Visitor Center, located at Sixth and Market streets. Theater-goers can purchase tickets 30% to 50% off within 72 hours of performances at arts institutions in Philadelphia and the suburbs.

Performances include Broadway touring shows and concerts as well as local productions at nearly two dozen theaters. Participants include:

— 1812 Productions
— Arden Theatre Company
— BalletX
— Bearded Ladies Cabaret
— EgoPo Classic Theater
— Ensemble Arts Philly (The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Miller Theater and the Academy of Music)
— FringeArts
— Hedgerow Theatre Company
— Inis Nua
— InterAct Theater Company
— Lantern Theatre Company
— Media Theater
— Penn Live Arts
— The Philadelphia Orchestra
— Philadelphia Theatre Company
— Quintessence Theater
— Theatre Ariel
— Theatre Exile
— Theatre Horizon
— The Wilma Theater

Tyler Dobrowsky, artistic director of the Philadelphia Theatre Company, said some theater seats often go unsold, so partnering with TKTS was a no-brainer.

“They can sell them to interested people that might be visiting Philly,” he said, “checking out the Liberty Bell, etc. But then they want to see a show in the evening. This is a really nice opportunity, so it’s a real win-win.”

All TKTS tickets must be purchased in person. The Philly ticket booth will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Correction: A previous version of this article misspelled Tyler's last name. The current story reflects that change.
