PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An executive order imposing an emergency curfew on businesses around Trenton City Hall is now in effect.
The order mandates that all businesses along East State Street, between West Canal Street and South Broad Street, be closed between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. Friday through Monday.
In the order, Mayor Reed Gusciora cites “disruptive and dangerous” late-night gatherings near City Hall as leading to serious incidents, including a fatal shooting and street fights.
The shooting happened Sunday, August 2, just after 3:30 a.m. on East State Street, and left a 32-year-old man dead and another injured.
In addition to the curfew, the area around City Hall will also see an increased police presence and parking enforcement overnight, as well as enhanced cleanup and anti-dumping efforts.
The order also amends city ordinances “to provide stronger enforcement tools for dealing with disrupting activities.”
