PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A neighborhood in Trenton is in mourning after a deadly house fire Saturday morning.

Two people were killed, and nine others have been displaced from their homes. One person was injured from jumping out of a window to escape the flames.

Authorities in Trenton said it happened on South Cook Avenue around 11:45 a.m.

The two people who died have been identified as William Laster and his partner, Joanne.

Laster's nephew, Joseph Silvis, tells out partners at NBC10 that his entire family was in town for a funeral. Laster's sister had just died from stomach cancer, and now the family is dealing with the loss of more loved ones.

“My uncle was full of life. He never wanted to give up his freedom or his ability to do things,” Silvis said.

Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora said the entire incident was a tragedy.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced who need temporary housing.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.
