Two persons of interest in custody in connection with series of Philly armed robberies, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say they have two persons of interest in custody for questioning in connection with a series of armed robberies that happened in several neighborhoods within the last week.

Authorities have not released any of their identities, and no charges have been filed in the case.


The announcement comes a day after police released surveillance video of several of the armed robberies, asking for the public's help identifying several suspects in connection with the crimes.

Police said the first armed robbery happened on Friday, Oct. 2.

On Sunday, Oct. 4 between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., police said five masked men, using handguns with lasers attached to them, robbed people of their belongings in several neighborhoods, including Northern Liberties, Center City, and Spring Garden.

At one point, the men were seen robbing someone in front of the Four Seasons Hotel at 19th and Arch streets.

Then, between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, police said the pair robbed more victims in Fairmount and near Temple University. Investigators said they got away with several bags and phones.

The men were spotted in a red Honda Accord with heavily tinted windows and chrome door handles.

None of the robbery victims were hurt.
