PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — U.S. Marshals have arrested a teenager for his alleged role in a carjacking that left one man dead.

Rasheed Banks, 15, was taken into custody by the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force Monday afternoon. He was wanted for the homicide of 50-year-old Michael Salerno.

Detectives say on July 12, just before 11 p.m., three armed suspects approached a Pontiac sedan with a woman inside and forced her out of the car on 12th and Porter streets while demanding keys.

They say Salerno, who was not inside the car at the time, tried to stop them. That’s when Banks fatally shot Salerno and all the suspects fled the scene.

Banks is expected to be charged with murder and related offenses.
