PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An undercover officer is out of the hospital after being shot at early Saturday morning in the Eastwick neighborhood of Southwest Philadelphia.
Homicide detectives who investigate police involved shootings said the undercover officer, who is not being identified, was injured by glass from his car.
They say the glass injured him in the face after another man shot at his car.
The shooting happened at around 2:30 this Saturday morning at 81st Street and Lyons Avenue. The officer started driving himself to Penn Presbyterian Hospital and was picked up by another officer on his way there.
The officer was treated and released from Penn Presbyterian with minor injuries. Detectives are still piecing together what happened. The shooter has not yet been identified, and no arrests have been made.
