Unidentified driver fires gunshots at group of teens in Fairmount Park, injuring 2

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man and woman are in the hospital after being shot in Fairmount Park early Sunday morning.

Police were called to Belmont Plateau around 1:30 a.m. for reports of gunshots, according to a report from broadcast partner NBC10. Responding officers arrived to find about 300 teenagers gathered there.

Shortly thereafter, a 19-year-old woman arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Still later, a 20-year-old man arrived at another hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Witnesses say someone drove up to the group of teenagers, told them to leave, and then started shooting. That person then sped off.

No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.
