PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A vehicle accident in Manayunk has forced a beloved community business to pause the music during repairs.
It was around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when a van driving down Main Street in Manayunk lost a wheel, hit a pole and crashed through the front door of Main Street Music, taking out not only its door frame, but also a chunk of the storefront. It also sent the van’s driver to the hospital.
Owner Pat Feeney says he was stunned when he received the news. “32 years and nothing like this has happened,” he said.
Employee Tyler Asay says he feared the worst when he heard about the accident. “I was just really worried that the store would be imploded,” he said. “I love the store so much. That would be the worst thing in the world.”
Just hours after the crash, workers were on the job, repairing the store. Feeney says now they’re just hoping for an early Christmas miracle, that the store can reopen without losing too much money.
“The timing is so bad, because of Black Friday, Record Store Day — which is even bigger for music stores — and Small Business Saturday,” he said.
Workers say although this is not great news, they’re just happy the store was closed at the time of the crash.
