PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are searching for the man whom they say raped a woman in Center City early Thursday morning. Detectives have pushed out a video and pictures of the suspect in hopes someone can identify him.
Authorities say that as a woman was walking back to a Center City hotel at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, a man approached her at the corner of 11th and Chestnut streets and started talking to her.
They say he then forced himself on her. She tried to get away and call 911, but police say he grabbed her and raped her, then got onto a bike and took off.
The suspect is described to be about 30 to 40 years old, and about 5 foot 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing all black with an Easy E t-shirt, gray sneakers, and a Phillies hat.

He was wearing a distinctive orange or red backpack with a white emblem, and had a maroon-colored hybrid bike.
Police believe he comes to Center City often, and they hope someone will recognize him and call in tips to help identify him. Authorities warn not to approach him if they discover him.
People can call in information about the case at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text tips to 215-686-TIPS (8477). They can also use an electronic form to anonymously offer tips. Police say all tips will be confidential.
