PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Most likely, we've all tried this technique at one point or another to reduce stress: We imagine we are on a faraway beach watching the waves rush in, or perhaps we are relaxing on a mountainside.

The technique can help us calm down and relax. Now, take that technique and add virtual reality and the support of psychiatrists and psychologists — that is what clinicians at Penn Medicine's Princeton House are doing to help people suffering from anxiety disorder.

The treatment is being used throughout the country at various centers, and in one study, participants reported a 35% reduction in anxiety.
