PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A fixture in Philadelphia's media landscape and former KYW news anchor Wally Kennedy has died.

A broadcaster for more than 30 years, Kennedy worked on-air for radio and television in Illinois, Michigan and Georgia before he came to Philadelphia, according to his biography from the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia.

While in Philly, he worked at WCAU radio, then switched to WPVI Channel 6, where he worked for two decades. In that time, he hosted "AM Philadelphia," "Philly After Midnight," "Sunday Live," and "Inside Story."

In 2011, he was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia's Hall of Fame.

Kennedy lived in Chester County with his wife. They had three children together.

In a statement, his wife said Kennedy's three children "brought him great joy, as did being part of the community through radio and TV."
