Early-morning double shooting in West Philadelphia leaves one man dead, another in critical condition

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One man is dead and another is in critical condition, after a double shooting in Philadelphia’s Parkside neighborhood early Sunday.

Police say they responded to a report of a person with a gun, about 3 a.m., to find two men with multiple gunshot wounds — a 29-year-old who’d been shot in the head and torso and a second man who’d been struck in the torso. They took both men to a nearby hospital.

The 29-year-old was pronounced dead. The other man is in critical condition. Police were unable to identify the wounded man and are asking anyone with information to call their tip line, 215-686-TIPS.

No suspects or motives have been identified yet.

Police are also investigating two other shootings. They say a 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm and leg Saturday night in North Philadelphia by two assailants. He’s in stable condition. The motive is unknown.

And police say a 47-year-old man was shot in the ankle in West Philadelphia at about 3:30 a.m.

Meanwhile police have identified the victim of a shooting early Saturday morning in West Philadelphia as 16-year-old Tysheer Hankinson of Upper Darby. Police are urging anyone with information to call the tip line—215-686-TIPS. As with all homicides, there is a 20-thousand dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
