Western Pa. woman arrested in connection with Capitol riot

PITTSBURGH (KDKA Newsradio) — Federal officials have confirmed that a Mercer County woman accused of participating in the riot at the U.S. Capitol last month has been arrested.

Rachel Powell of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody Thursday evening in New Castle.

She is accused of smashing a window during the riot and using a bullhorn to direct rioters inside the Capitol. Viral video appears to show her doing so, while wearing a pink hat.

Powell is charged with obstruction, depredation of government property, violent entry, and disorderly conduct.

Peter Schwartz of Kentucky was also arrested in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, for his connection to the Jan. 6 riots.
