PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The unofficial end of summer is in its final stretch. Here’s a rundown of what’s open and closed across the city, as well as some things to do on Labor Day.
All banks, post offices, and government services are closed. Trash and recycling services will be delayed one day for the rest of the week. Check your neighborhood’s schedule here.
And don’t worry, kids, you get to enjoy one last day of summer, as all Philadelphia School District buildings are closed.
Major retailers like Walmart and Target will be open. The same goes for the following stores: Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Giant Food Stores, Whole Foods, ShopRite, Acme, Sprouts, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and, of course, Fine Wine & Good Spirits. CVS and Walgreens will also be open. Some stores are operating on limited hours, so check ahead before you go.
Reading Terminal Market will be closed. For private businesses like local restaurants and mom-and-pop shops, be sure to check their website or social media page for operating hours.
And if you’re looking for somewhere historical to go, check out the Museum of the American Revolution or the Betsy Ross House for a flag-raising ceremony. More family-friendly options include the Philadelphia Zoo and Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Please Touch Museum and Academy of Natural Sciences are closed.
