PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A section of I-95 northbound in Northeast Philadelphia is still closed after a truck carrying an oversized load slammed into the Conrail bridge overpass on Monday, but there could soon be light at the end of the tunnel.
So, when will that stretch of I-95 reopen? PennDOT says repairs could be finished by the weekend. However, a Conrail rep told The Philadelphia Inquirer it could be as early as Thursday — 72 hours since the collision.
Until we get final confirmation, officials urge drivers to avoid this area, if possible. If they can’t, detours are still in place: Drivers must exit I-95 north at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange (Exit 26), turn right on Aramingo Avenue, then turn right onto Adams Avenue to access the ramp back onto I-95 north.
The ramp from Castor Avenue to I-95 northbound is also closed.
Meanwhile, NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Line is still suspended. There is no service in both directions between 30th Street Station and Pennsauken. NJ Transit is providing substitute shuttle buses between 30th Street and Cherry Hill until the work is complete.
