WILMINGTON, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — NFC championship gear is flying off the shelves.
While fans celebrated the Eagles’ Super Bowl-sending win throughout the night, many were up at the crack of dawn to get their hands on official merchandise.
One of the first brick-and-mortar stores to start selling NFC gear was Dick’s Sporting Goods. Doors at its Wilmington location, in the Brandywine Town Center, opened at 7 a.m. Monday.
The selection was limited though, because the store stayed open late Sunday night after the Birds won.
The table for “NFC CHAMPION” shirts was already empty, and “CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS” shirts were selling fast, along with the white Super Bowl 57 tees.
Other stores in the region will be stocking NFC merch later this week. Items are also available online.
Customers are already planning their game day attire. Julie, of West Chester, has a family trip to Hawaii that overlaps with the Super Bowl game, but she will proudly show her Eagles colors anywhere.
“No matter where you live or where you are, even in Hawaii, it’s gonna be a great game to watch. It’s just a little earlier over there, which is nice. It’ll be 12 o’clock versus 6 o’clock,” she said. “But apparently the bars open at 7, so we should be fine.”
Joseph, from Delaware, had to grab a few tees despite his divided household.
“One for my daughter, who’s a huge Eagles fan,” he said. “My wife is actually a Cowboys fan, so that was bad for her. She’s not getting anything!
“This is just to rub it in her face, actually.”
Happy wife, happy life — unless she’s a Cowboys fan.
