PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The end of the coronavirus public health emergency does not mean the end of COVID-19. We can help limit the cases and severity, but continued research is crucial.
Those who are older or have pre-existing conditions, like obesity, respiratory or cardiac issues, are at greater risk. Why do certain people — those who seem to have no other apparent health issues — have bigger problems?
A new report in Nature Journal focuses on genetic causes. Researchers analyzed genes from people who were attacked more aggressively from COVID-19. There are two key reasons why this is important:
1. It might help us learn more about how COVID-19 does its damage.
2. It could lead to helpful medications.
