WILMINGTON, Del. (KYW Newsradio) — Four people were shot in Wilmington, Delaware, Tuesday morning.

It happened around 6 a.m. at 10th and North Spruce streets.

Wilmington police said three men — ages 23, 40 and 49 — were shot, along with a 53-year-old woman. All are in stable condition at the hospital.

Authorities kept 10th Street, between Spruce and Bennett streets, blocked off for about two hours before removing the caution tape and allowing traffic to resume. Officers sprayed down and disinfected the sidewalk outside of homes on 10th Street.

It was confusing and frightening for neighbors like Cheryl Elzey, who manages a retirement facility located across the street.

“Me and the guard — we have a guard here 24/7 — I heard pop pop pop pop pop, and I said, ‘Rod, somebody, they’re shooting.’ We came out and one of the victims was sitting on the steps, and he had been injured. Rod went over there to assist him, and then we know another one was up the street down, and then there was another one they were helping around the corner.”

Neighbors said there have been previous issues with violence connected to the house where this shooting took place.

Wilmington police said the investigation is ongoing as they search for a suspect.
