PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say a school district employee is facing charges for a deadly hit and run last week in Northwest Philadelphia.
42-year-old Sharon Seawood, Special Education Assistant at Frankford High School, is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and related offenses.
School officials say Seawood has not reported to work since February 28th, the day after 47-year-old Toby Maurice Bryant was stuck by a car and killed while crossing the road at 79th and Ogontz Avenue in West Oak Lane.
Police say Bryant, a local barber, was hit so hard that his shoes came off and he was dragged at least 30 feet.
The School District says Seawood has been working at the school since September of last year and is being placed on leave.
