PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An accident involving two ambulances claimed the life of one ambulance worker Saturday morning in Germantown.
Police say it was just after 10 a.m. when two ambulances responded to a home on West Chelten Avenue near Wayne Avenue for a patient transport.
One ambulance was parked in front of the other. When the driver of the front ambulance hopped out, the ambulance began drifting backwards.
That driver realized the ambulance was in reverse. He jumped back in to stop the backwards roll, but accidentally stepped on the accelerator.
32-year-old Nisha Jaia Renee Dash was standing between both vehicles and was crushed. She was transported to a hospital but later died from her injuries.
