PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman is dead after she was hit by a car in University City on Thanksgiving.
According to our partners at NBC10, the 41-year-old woman was struck just before 4 p.m. as she was crossing 36th and Market streets.
"She was hit with such force that she was knocked out of both of her sneakers, and her body appears to have been launched and dragged a distance of 200 feet,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10. She was pronounced dead by medics shortly after the incident.
While attempting to flee the scene, the driver struck another car a few blocks away, then tried to run away but was apprehended by police.
