Woman found dead in South Philadelphia house fire

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a house fire that killed a woman Wednesday morning in South Philadelphia.

Around 10:40 a.m., fire crews responded to Darien Street, near Oregon Avenue, for a fire with people possibly trapped inside.

Once the flames were extinguished a short time later, investigators found a woman dead in the living room. They have not released the victim’s age or identity.

Officials said they do not yet know the cause but do not suspect arson.
