PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Upper Merion police say a woman pulled a handgun in the food court at the King of Prussia Mall, leading to panicked mall-goers attempting to escape.
However, no charges were filed, as she had a concealed weapons permit.
The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Five Guys restaurant inside the food court, where the woman got into an argument with three other women.
According to police, the woman said she was concerned that the other three women would attack her, so she pulled a gun out of her purse and pointed it at them.
The food court was busy at the time, and panicked customers ran for the exits.
No shots were fired, and no one was hurt.
The three women then stepped back from the woman, who put her gun back in her purse, police said. They added that she and the other three women got into a further verbal altercation, but no one was hurt and no weapons were pulled out.
Police said that one of their officers in the mall secured the woman’s weapon and took her into custody. She has a permit to concealed carry her handgun, and no charges were filed.
The investigation is ongoing. Upper Merion Police ask you to call them at 610-265-3232 if you have further information.
