PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A massive search is underway in Burlington County for a woman who went missing after saving a girl from the Delaware River Monday afternoon.
Officials said Delran police arrived at Amico Island Park in Riverside around 4 p.m. and learned that the woman went into the river to rescue the girl who was struggling in the water.
The woman pushed the girl to shore where bystanders pulled her to safety. But during the rescue, the woman went underwater and did not resurface.
Multiple departments are searching for the woman. Officials said the search will continue until nightfall and will resume Tuesday morning.
