PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman was shot during an argument outside her house in the Poplar section of North Philadelphia Monday night.

Police found the woman on the sidewalk outside her home near 12th Street and Fairmount Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

Police said there was a large fight on the street, and someone threw a rock through the woman’s window.

“That’s what we think is the motive for the shooting, and it escalated to shots being fired,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small, “but we’re not certain exactly why someone threw a rock through the front window.”

Investigators said someone inside the house stood in the doorway and fired shots outside. Then, someone ran up to the house and fired shots into it.

The woman was shot in the chest. She is in the hospital in stable condition.

Investigators found four spent shell casings near the door to her house. They are checking private surveillance cameras to try to identify a suspect.
