PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A woman was shot and killed in her car across the street from an athletic field packed with kids in North Philadelphia Monday evening.
It happened on East Loudon Street near D Street in Feltonville just before 6 p.m.
According to police, a white SUV pulled up and two people got out. They started shooting at the woman, who was sitting in a Honda Civic.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said 28 shots were fired — 15 of them hit the woman’s car. She was hit in the face and chest.
“Parked vehicles in front and behind her vehicle were not struck by gunfire, so it appears that they were targeting her vehicle,” he said.
Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Tina Arroyo.
All this happened steps away from a football field where children were playing.
Police arrested 26-year-old Alexander Grady in connection with this shooting. He is charged with murder and related gun offenses.
