PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 40-year-old woman was shot eight times and killed Wednesday afternoon, right by an elementary school in North Philadelphia.
Police said that the homicide happened at about 1:10 p.m. near the corner of North 24th and West Diamond streets in the Stanton neighborhood.
William Dick School, a Philadelphia public school, is located on that corner.
According to initial reports from authorities, someone shot the woman three times in the arm, once in the chest, twice in the back and twice in the forearm.
She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at about 1:25 p.m.
Police said there was no initial arrest or recovery of a weapon.
