PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The 47th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run saw more than 40,000 runners take over Philadelphia on Sunday, racing 10 miles from Central High School to the Navy Yard with Center City as their backdrop.

Joshua Izewski won the men's race in 45:08.33, setting a new course record. Winter Parts claimed the non-binary division in 52:04.39, also a course record. Tessa Barrett topped the women's field in 52:24.34, and Tony Nogueira won the men's wheelchair division in 38:46.61.

Amanda Sell hit the pavement with her brother, Joshua, making their best times in their fourth year at the race.

"Oh my gosh, it was just an amazing day, the weather, and I ran 20 seconds faster per mile than I wanted to, so I killed it,” Amanda said.

She said the experience keeps them coming back.

"It's the best thing ever, and no matter what, you'll finish,” Amanda said.

Katrina and high schooler Caleb said confidence was their companion for the day and had some words of inspiration.

"I know that no matter what, even if my hamstring is a little tired, my foot falls asleep, one foot in front of the other, have fun, you can make it,” Katrina said.

"Whatever you do, you just got to put your mind to it, and you can do it,” Caleb added.

Lillian brought her grandkids to support the runners because she says this is Philadelphia’s moment.

"Oh boy. Everything's great. The Phillies are winning, the Flyers are winning, the Sixers are winning,” Lillian exclaimed.

“Now we've got the Philly run today. Philly's just happening. Philly's happening."
